Hi, I’m Amanda!
Founder & Owner, Connected Journeys Counseling & Consulting
I’m Amanda Brown, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Perinatal Mental Health-Certified (PMH-C) therapist. I founded Connected Journeys Counseling & Consulting with the vision of creating a space where women of color, and all individuals navigating complex life transitions, feel truly seen, supported, and empowered in their healing journey.
Before launching Connected Journeys, I served as a Clinical Practice Director at a group private practice, where I guided clinicians, supervised interns, and cultivated policies to support both providers and clients. That experience shaped my approach as a leader and clinician: practical, transparent, compassionate, and deeply rooted in cultural responsiveness.
My work is influenced not just by clinical training but also by lived experience. I understand the ways identity, family, fertility, and culture intersect with mental health, and I hold space for clients to explore those layers with honesty and grace.
Areas of Focus
Perinatal & postpartum mood/anxiety disorders (PMADs): Support through the transition into parenthood, including postpartum depression, anxiety, and identity shifts.
Fertility stress & third-party reproduction support: Guidance for those navigating fertility challenges, assisted reproduction, and family-building choices.
Identity, self-worth, and relational patterns: Helping clients build confidence, strengthen relationships, and live authentically.
Anxiety, work stress, life transitions, and grief: Support for everyday stressors and profound life changes, with tools for resilience.
Beyond the Therapy Room
In addition to providing therapy, I also offer clinical supervision for LMSWs in Alabama (with Tennessee coming soon). Supporting early-career social workers is one of my passions, as it allows me to guide the next generation of clinicians toward ethical, culturally responsive, and grounded practice.
When I’m not working, I’m usually spending time with my family and friends, staying active, or exploring new ways to bring creativity and connection into my own daily life.
My Values
Culture matters: your story leads. Every identity and lived experience is honored here, with intentional focus on the needs of women of color.
Compassion + accountability. Healing is nurtured through empathy and supported by growth.
Clarity, consent, and collaboration. You are always part of the process, and your voice matters in shaping care.
Care that fits your real life. Practical, evidence-based tools that meet you where you are.
My Why
Connected Journeys was born out of both professional expertise and personal experience. As a woman and mother who has walked through the complexities of fertility, identity, and maternal mental health, I know firsthand how layered and vulnerable these journeys can be.
I also know the difference it makes to sit across from someone who “gets it”, who can hold the cultural, emotional, and relational pieces without judgment. My heart is to offer that kind of care: culturally responsive, practical, and deeply affirming.
This work is not just what I do, it’s part of who I am. Helping women and families find hope, healing, and empowerment through life’s transitions is why I created Connected Journeys, and why I remain committed to walking alongside my clients with both compassion and clarity.
